Identifying a MIKE linebacker isn't the same as identifying a blitzing player. Identifying a MIKE orients the protection scheme by identifying the player on defense who should act as the center. Defense players to the left of the MIKE (from the QB's perspective) should be blocked by the LG, LT, and any backs lined up or assigned on the weakside. Any players to the right of the MIKE (from the QB's perspective) should be blocked by the RG, RT, and any strong side TE or backs. The C, supposing he is not covered by a nose tackle, is then free to help on either side, or to pick up the MIKE on a blitz.
