>• Oklahoma holds the record for most lopsided instate rivalry with a record of 84-17-7 (through 2012 regular season) over Big 12 Conference opponent Oklahoma State. In fact the rivalry is so lopsided that Oklahoma has shut out Oklahoma State more times (28 - not including 0-0 ties) than Oklahoma State has won against Oklahoma.

>Vandy that low

Vandy's are actually pretty dope. UGA's uniforms are also better than Bama's for sure, it's a more striking red - not so boring.

3 teams WVU played before losing to OU.

1) Georgia Southern
2) Liberty
3) Maryland

Did you not think someone would look that up?

>>63656193
>>63656259
>>63656039
Just stop with this Miami bullshit. Miami has had exactly 3 three year periods where they were competitive and have been trash besides that.

Two of those periods they were only competitive because all the players were bought.

Miami has lost of all their recruiting pipelines outside of Florida and get outrecruited in Florida by like five other schools
>>
>>63656193
>retards nationwide don't understand that shalala handcuffed the program for over a decade because she refused to hire a coach that could stop the talent bleedout from south florida
>retards nationwide don't understand that if miami recruited nowhere else but south florida (except for quarterbacks) they would be a perennial playoff team

i'm not even a miami fan. the new president has stepped aside and let alumni and other athletic officials pick the next coach. they could pick wrong obviously but i have trouble believing the committee they chose won't pick a good coach.

it won't happen next year but if kaaya stays on for his senior year miami will play for the ACC title in 2017 and reboot the program.
>>
>>63656257
Miami is trash, the women are all gold digger hiv infested too poor for hollywood spics and niggers, you can't see the beach from anywhere unless you paid out the ass for parking, and no one gives a fuck about sports in the city of Miami.

>>
>>63656324
yeah because miami has had some terrible coachs. Miami was relevant for 15 years up until the first sanctions. and then they were relevant for 5 years in the late 90s and early 00s

>>
>>63656482

Yeah, please put ND in the playoffs for Bama to play in the first round so we can get a bye.
>>
The 2012 Notre Dame team needed 12 defenders to make it to the title game (and get raped) by Alabama.
How are they going to get there this year with only 11?
>>
>>63656482
because after temple got blown the fuck out by south florida (??) the committee panicked and put USC and fucking navy in the top 25 because otherwise notre dame would not have any wins against ranked opponents and would have only one game against ranked competition all year, and they'd have to justify how the fuck a team like that is ranked #4 in the country outside of the bandwagon
>>
Ohio State will lose at least 1 of the next 2 games.
>>
>>63656521
Yes. But Houston had a turnover margin of +2 that game. Gators were -3. Put any team at that kind of disadvantage and it makes even easier opponents tougher to beat. If the Gators don't turn it over 4 times then they put way more than 9 points on the board.
>>
>>63656673
navy has been in the top 25 since the first poll. USC is not a bad a team now that their coach isnt drunk 24/7.
>>
>>63656795
this is navy's first week in the top 25. if navy was notre dame with the same schedule, they'd have been top 15 for the last month.

usc beat colorado, arizona, and cal by a combined 17 points in their last 3 games. the combined opponent record for those teams is 16-16.

by contrast they lost to utah by 18 points at home.

usc is a bad football team and should not be ranked.

i'm actually ok with this. B10 will probably cannibalize themselves. Iowa could easily lose to purdue (dont laugh) or nebraska, OSU would have msu, michigan, and iowa to play and have to win all 3. seems realistic, no one loss B10 team gets in over ND if they keep winning

I don't think you guys realize if ND wins a ship how terrible that will become. They will justify never joining a conference. They will raid the south and west-coast even harder for recruits, and since they are much better academically than most of those schools parents will push their kids to go there even harder since they are winning nattys on top of it. They can schedule whoever they want outside of a few ACC games and USC/Stanford/Navy so will always have a good SoS. It will be the return of the empire, and dark times for college football under a new era of ND dominance. Hopefully stanford will beat them.

Oh, and their fans will become even more insuffereable. To be fair though, these are mostly non-ND people, I've gone to ND for 5 ND-USC games, and have always been treated very well by the people there.
>>
>>63656687
Wrong
>>
>>63657312
I've actually had this experience with most fan bases. The people tailgating/going to the game are pretty chill. I went to both OU/ND games in 2012/13 and ND fans were pretty great. Baylor on the other hand is the exception and has tons of douchebags, fuck those guys.
>>
>>63657312
They should just stop being divas and join the ACC, fully.
>>
>>63657360
they are a better fit in the big10, both academically, and in traveling distance. you can thank mishitgan for fucking that up forever though.
>>
>>63657211

If Iowa goes down to Purdue just drop them from the top 25.

I don't think it will happen but I've seen dumber this season with heavily favored teams shitting or nearly shitting the bed against inferior teams
>>
>>63657338

They could. If whichever QB the Buckeyes put back there doesn't want to actually play well and the running game goes nowhere somewhere they could easily lose and fall in the rankings
>>
>>63657312
I went to ND for the game this year, my first trip there. I was really surprised, despite the rivalry I was given drinks at multiple tailgates just walking around where I didnt know anyone and treated very well. I sat in the south corner of the end-zone near many ND fans, and there wasnt really any animosity, if anything I felt like they appreciated our talent and hoped we would get our coaching shit together. If your team plays ND you should try to go there for the game, very cool fans at the actual game.

Saban snatched a natty from OU in 04, and Stoops humiliated him in the final year of the BCS after calling the conference overrated. I'd rather have the natty than the bcs win obviousy, and Oklahoma has really owned Alabama historically in their games and are actually tied right now for wins all time in 6th place.

Yeah, the Mountain West isn't a Power 5 conference so you'd need to have a team that's pretty much undefeated to get into the playoff, or one loss to get into a New Year's 6 bowl. Right now SDSU is projected into either the Las Vegas bowl vs. UCLA or the Poinsetta Bowl vs. Northern Illinois.
>>
>>63661698
NCAA wanted too much money for licensing. 2K was lagging so far behind EA on the football side they gave up because it became prohibitively expensive to produce College Football 2K, and then they dropped their NCAA basketball game in 08 because despite no real competition from EA the price for licensing became too high.

Eh, you make it week 1 of the regular season, and split the games half Big Ten half SEC home.

You don't even have to do the matchup thing with the 1 v 1, 2 v 2, etc. You can have it where each team plays a different SEC team/B1G team every year for 14 years and be able to schedule the games out as far as a decade and a half in advance. You don’t have to do everything Bielema suggested with it, but just the idea of the two conferences' teams all squaring off against each other one week of the year would be excellent for Bantz and really improve overall SoS for both conferences

I actually like the 1v1, 2v2, etc. idea. It's for the sake of objectivity (if Alabama is playing Purdue or Maryland they may as well schedule North Texas instead - even if it isn't every year) and I think it could develop some really heated inter-conference rivalries if the top teams end up playing each other every year or frequently.

Not all of the SEC schedules retards for OOC though so it's not that big of a deal. Alabama had West Virginia last year and Wisconsin (played LSU last year) this year. Tennessee played Oklahoma two years in a row. Arkansas plays Tech. Its the mid level shitters that duck P5 teams in their OOC.

Every conference has those. Baylel and TCU fans bitch about why Oklahoma has brand recognition and gets the benefit of the doubt at the national level and it's because we occasionally win NY6 bowls, consistently win our big head to head OOC games with tough competition (played Notre Dame before Tennessee, and FSU before ND.)

Stop scheduling pussies and stop losing bowl games and you get respect.
>>
>>63665223
What exactly is so impractical about it? Obviously it couldn't be implemented for a few years due to already-scheduled future match-ups, but it's not like it's impossible to schedule 14 neutral-site meetings between the two conferences in the immediate offseason (especially since the neutral-site stadiums/fields would already have the dates reserved). Most P5 teams already play a neutral-site game every year anyways so it's not like they would be losing revenue. Maybe there's something I'm not seeing in which case pls xpln, but I don't see what is so impractical about it.

they're having trouble staying in even undefeated because they have no quality wins, Alabama had been on the verge of jumping them for some time and now even Notre Dame is breathing down their neck.

a loss doesn't just drop them out of the top 4, it could start a freefall. If the top 4 hold strong and Oklahoma State doesn't win out it is possible that the Big 12 gets left out, but a 1-loss Ohio State team is not going to the playoff.

None of that is even true. OSU is comfortably at 3 and a loss to Michigan or MSU, provided that team also loses their other remaining game against Penn State, puts OSU in the B1G title game against Undefeated Iowa and that win would put them in. They still get in over Notre Dame in that scenario, as ND's SoS is completely eroding
>>

They won't but they should be.

If Clemson loses to UNC and Stanford beats Notre Dame/loses the Pac 12 championship UNC should make the playoff.

Correction, Notre Dame needs to lose to Stanford, and neither USC or Stanford can win the Pac 12.

It is a very long shot but if everything falls into place I could see UNC squeaking in @#4 assuming Notre Dame's SoS falls far enough and they have two loses. Iowa doesn't deserve a spot over UNC when the Heels pretty soundly beat Pitt away and Iowa barely beat them @home.

>>
>>63666111
The score differential is not at all relevant when the teams play entirely different styles of football. Iowa gets in over UNC because beating Wisconsin and Northwestern and losing to just Ohio State looks better than beating nobody but Clemson and losing to SCAR. And no this isn't muh quality of loss, this is muh quality of schedule. UNC played absolutely nobody. Their best wins are Iowa's 4th and 5th best wins at this point. UNC will never get in, even with a conference championship and win over Clemson. The ACC Coastal is so shitty that it won't get them in. Ohio State and Alabama will already be in. The Big 12 champion will get in over them, even at 2 losses. The Pac 12 champion will get in over them at 2 losses. Iowa and Florida will get in over them with a loss in the championship. Houston will get in above them if they're undefeated. I really see no potential path in which UNC gets in, even if the worst happens for everybody.

>>
>>63666268
The things that hurt OU before and at Texas was the primary run blockers were inexperienced (replaced tight end, full back, and both OTs). I think it really is just they're finally getting experienced enough to recognize complex pressure schemes. The players are great 1 on 1 but it's the stunts and overloads that were getting to them.

Also, OU is actually running temp now which really helps the players get into a rhythm.

People forget that pretty much every player on our offense right now except Perine and the center didn't play last year.

>best offenses in the nation
No they haven't. The offenses that get the most yards and points against shitty teams that don't play defense and FCS opponents are not among the best offenses in the nation. Baylor's offense is prolific, not good. There is a massive difference. A Big 12 offense that scores 50-60 points a game is absolutely not better than offenses that don't run the air raid that score 20-30 points a game.

Alternatively Stanford wins out, USC loses to Oregon and/or UCLA and Utah loses to UCLA. UCLA wins out in the Pac 12 championship. This would PROBABLY keep the Pac 12 out of Playoff consideration. If UNC beats Clemson that means you have two spots left in the CFP (#1 and #2 are held by Ohio State and Alabama, probably in that order assuming they both win out).

So to fill #3 and #4 you have to choose between (I'll be counting teams with winning/.500 records that are FBS as important wins):

12-1 ACC Champs UNC
(Wins over Pitt, Duke, NC State, Miami, Illinois, VTech, and Clemson. Loss versus SCAR)
11-1 Potential "Big" "12" Champs Oklahoma
(Wins over Okie State, Baylor, TCU, TTech, Tennessee, West Virginia, Tulsa, and Akron. Loss versus Texas)
OR
12-0 Potential "Big" "12" Champs Okie State
(Wins over Oklahoma, TCU, Baylor, West Virginia, Central Michigan, TTech. No loses)
12-1 B1G Runner-Up Iowa
(Wins over Northwestern, Illinois, Pitt, and Wisconsin. Loss versus Ohio State)
11-2 SEC Runner-Up Florida
(Wins over Tennessee, Ole Miss, Mizzou, Georgia, and Florida State. Loses versus LSU and Alabama)

Who do you pick?

Note:
12-1 ACC Runner-Up Clemson
(Wins over App State, Louisville, Notre Dame, Miami, NC State, and Florida State. Loss versus UNC)
10-2 Notre Dame
(Wins over Navy, USC, Temple, Pitt. Loses versus Clemson and Stanford)

Are both eliminated in this scenario.
>>

Only 2 of these five teams, in this scenario, are conference champs. Of the two non-conference champs, one has 2 loses (to ranked teams) and the other has the least amount of wins over .500+ teams.

You beat USC in the midst of their implosion, not really impressive
>>
>>63666475
It's not their defense that's the problem. It's the offense they run. They will always have this problem so long as they stay committed to their extreme version of the Air Raid. They score infinity points, but they cannot control game tempo and can't keep the other team's offense off the field. By the end of the game, their offense is gassed and the D gets BTFO. Tech's offense, not defense, is what causes them to lose
>>
>>63666443
Big 12 has beaten multiple from every conference except the pac 12. The real truth is none of you shitters play offense. Your wide outs are slow and have bricks for hands which doesn't atter because all of your qbs are shit.

There is no a single QB in the Big 10 other than maybe Barret that would start in the Big 12.

Committee disagrees? You really, TRULY, LEGITIMATELY, believe that Iowa is getting in over an OU that wins out? You're fucking retarded. No one cares about Iowa and if your schedule wasn't so piss easy no one would even know you have a team.
Your common opponents have been blown out by teams ranked beneath you. You're overrated. You're shit. The best part of your season will be this time period why you are still able to delude yourself into thinking you have a quality program, that you have a chance at something greater than the mediocrity that you're used to. Oklahoma is a blue blood program. The pinnacle of college sports, an elite team responsible for the lore and mythos of the sport itself.

Iowa WILL NEVER be in the same conversation as OU unless it's in the manner in which we are currently speaking, as a fucking joke.

Funnily enough, UNC has the most .500+ wins out of all those contenders, assuming VTech wins @UVA and Illinois wins against either Minnesota or Northwestern, but they also currently have the worst loss of them all to SCAR. If Texas loses their next two games then Oklahoma and UNC will have both lost to 4-8 teams.

If Iowa loses to Ohio State, absolutely not, OU gets in. To this point in the season though, Iowa has the better resume. That won't continue unless Iowa beats Ohio State, Oklahoma has a really hard stretch to get through.

Iowa is also not my team, I'm pretty objective on this matter. Beating Big 12 teams isn't all that impressive, which is why the committee has Okie State and Oklahoma below Iowa and Notre Dame right now.

Look at the bowl season last year. Big 12 got BTFO. Ever since the Rose Bowl at the end of the 2009 season, when Luke Fickell wrote the book on how to stop high-tempo offense, the high-tempo offenses have not had much success, the only exceptions being teams capable of drastically changing tempo like Urban Meyer's teams. You are never out of the game against teams that can't adjust to having the lead. That's why Baylor was able to come back against TCU last year, and why Michigan State was able to beat Baylor in the bowl game.

Oklahoma is actually an exception to the rule, which is why they will win the Big 12 and are the only team that will be competitive in the tourney. I was not saying Oklahoma was bad, not at all. It's just the opponents that you pretend are good that aren't very good. T Tech is a bad team. Baylor is a bad team. TCU is Minnesota-tier.

Margin of victory does not mean anything. Alabama has consistently proved that throughout the Nick Saban era and it has always been consistently proven throughout all of cfb history. Iowa has the better resume than Oklahoma up to this point, you can't change that.

>>

Baylor and TCU put like 500 yards each on the two best defenses from a year ago. TCU put 42 on Ole Miss in one half.

Oregon ran FSU out of the arena. OU is two years removed running rough shod over Bama. Mizzou and TAMU shredded the SEC their first three years in the conference and all of that happened after your "book" was written.

You have no idea what you're talking about and you will legitimately get embarrassed if we see you fucking scrubs.
>>
>>63666734

Yes but if they put them in for that reason the CFP gets blown up. No way are the going to choose money over the product on the field two years in a row.

The yards they put on those teams are irrelevant, because as good as the offense is at scoring points, they cannot keep the other team off the field, which is why they allow crazy comebacks all the time in the Big 12.

Iowa wins out then tOSU falls. Stop being a fucking idiot. There is no way a tOSU that hasn't beaten a single top 25 team isnt' going to fall out if they lose.

>>
>>63666783

What are you even talking about?

All I'm saying is that if Iowa wins out they jump tOSU, and if ND wins out, they'll still be in, leaving a playoff of

1. Clemson
2. Bama
3. Iowa/ND
4. Iowa/ND

Thus, leaving OU out of the playoff. Literally all I was saying sperg.
>>
>>63666783
In a perfect world a Conference runner-up doesn't make the playoffs, but if Notre Dame loses to Stanford, and Clemson or Ohio State lose their championship game, then there's a very good possibility that we'll see a runner-up get in.
>>
>>63666825

Would Iowa make more money than OU?
>>
>>63666801
No system is perfect. But I'm not goign to sit here and watch the best defenses in the nation get embarassed year in and year out by our offenses and listen to talk about how bad the defense in our conference is.

Big 10 and SEC are 0-4 against Big 12 teams ranked in the top half of the conference.
>>
>>63666825
OU makes more money than Iowa so by your logic you wouldnt be getting in.

OU will still have two top 10 wins to your 1.
>>
>>63666814
nah. usc-nd was a hard-fought game for a team on their literal first week with a new head coach. had they been embarrassed 41-0, that would've been the low point. the true low point was losing to washington. it was inexcusable. no usc fan was surprised nor disappointed in their boys for losing to a very good nd team given the context.
>>
>>63666840

Doesn't matter. They would have more quality wins, an undefeated record, and a win over the third ranked defending national champs.
>>
>>63666838
Specifically Clemson losing would be huge, Ohio State not so much, but you catch my drift. Ohio State losing and Clemson winning would guarantee three teams (Clemson, Alabama, Iowa) but Clemson losing and Ohio State winning would only guarantee two (Ohio State and Alabama).
>>
>>63666838
There is absolutely no situation in which a runner up anything gets in over a 1 loss Big 12 team.

OU jumped 5 spots for beating the 8th ranked team.

If we beat a team higher ranked than that we're in and that's only one of the ranked teams we have left on our schedule

>>63666855

If we play the common opponent game I could spin this 1000000 fucking ways that OU is better than ND and Bama.
>>
>>63666881

tOSU got in last year over TCU because they beat the living fuck out of Wisconsin who was a quality team. They each had one loss, it was a no brainier for tOSU at that point.

And obviously their logic was right since they ended up winning the whole thing.
>>

>>
>>63666911
Honestly I feel like it was just a shitty situation for the Big 12. TCU goes from 3rd to 5th after winning by 40 points and their only loss was to the 6th ranked team in the nation on a last second field goal.

If Iowa has one loss there is NO CHANCE they get in over OU.

I think Notre Dame's position shows quality of a loss is important

What stops them from calling the B1G trash and not letting them in?

I'm not saying that Iowa wouldn't deserve it. But the committee can do whatever it thinks creates the best games.
>>
>>63666799
Ole Miss had a broken, inept offense. Michigan State, however, did not. They had Connor Cook.

The difference is the results of those two games.

Incidentally, the reason Saban has had trouble with high scoring teams (A&M, Oklahoma, Ohio State last year) is because his teams haven't ever possessed an offense capable of scoring a lot if the defense gives out. Teams that have talent on that side of the ball can and do.

Why has Luke Fickell always beaten Oregon? He had a phrase that he taught the players on both sides of the ball going into the National Championship. That phrase was "Eliminate Six". It meant fuck yards, fuck points, if you could control the tempo of the game and prevent Oregon from averaging running a play every six seconds, no matter how good their offense did you would win the game. Look at the yards that Oregon put up against OSU, look at Mariota's stats, and look at the final result. Dictating game pace always wins games over trying to score as many points as fast as possible.
>>
>>63666944

The quality of loss is only justified by the fact they lost to the team the committee put at #1.

Could Clempson beat OU or Bama?
>>
>>63666975
Clemson would beat OU, OU would beat Bama, Bama would beat Clemson.
>>
>>63666944
>quality loss
>being awarded for losing
>giving out participation awards to college athletes.
>>
>>63666944

It's the big 12s fault for not having a title game. TCU could have gotten in if they played and beat Baylor again.

But considering all the facts last year it was still a no brainier for Ohio State. They were not the same team that lost to VA Tech.
>>
>>63666872
I'm curious why the Playoff Selection Committee is so high on Oklahoma when they're 1.) beating teams with really shitty SoS and when they've 2.) lost to a Texas team that will probably end the season at 4-8 (assuming they lose to Baylor and Tech, which they in all likelihood should). That'd make the Texas loss WORSE than UNC's loss to South Carolina, considering that Texas beat OU by a TD while controlling most of the game, while SCAR beat UNC by only 4 points because UNC threw two interceptions in the red zone.
>>
>>63666954
>What stops them from calling the B1G trash and not letting them in?

Because that would make sense and this committee doesn't.

I think there is a bias against the Big 12 because of how dominant we've been against the SEC lately. OU has won three straight games against SEC competition (bama, Tennessee x2), averaging like 45 points and 450 ypg. TCU fucking HUMILIATED Ole Miss last year, and TTU embarrassed Arkansas on national television then Kingsbury called the entire conference overrated.

You're not going to convince me the lack of respect the 12 is getting isn't related to the fact that the chairman of the CFP is the Arkansas AD.

He claims we don't play defense when we walked into his house and shit a fucking brick in his mouth after shutting his offense down.

how the fuck does that work
>>
>>63666944
Remember that TCU was #3 until OSU played Wisconsin, which caused their SoS to improve significantly. Notre Dame is last year's TCU right now imo. Watch them get jumped by Oklahoma at the end of the year.
>>
>>63666993

Navy is ranked over Houston for getting booty blasted by Notre Dame.
>>
>>63666897
A big thing hurting the Big 12 is no conference championship. Even if OU/Okie St. is a defacto championship game, the conference still plays one less game overall.
>>
>>63666989
Clemson's defense is not good enough to hold OU's offense in check. You got ran the fuck over by Syracuse and FSU and OU has two running backs and an O Line that are better than anything on either of those teams.
>>
>>63667007
Ohio State is this years FSU. Playing nobody and when they finally do they will be exposed.
>>
>>63666975
Pretty sure they beat the shit out of Oklahoma last year with a QB with one arm
And Bama struggles against the spread
>>
>>63667000
The Big 12 lack of respect is simple. The schedule is backloaded and only some tough games have been played. The Big 12 champion, assuming they win out, gets in, and they probably get in at #2 or #3. They will jump ND when their resume allows them to and ND's resume crashes and burns
>>
>>63667028
except FSU did play some ranked teams. So far Ohio State has played 0.
>>
>>63667021
>you

I think clemson's defensive line is too good for ours to handle. Its possible im underrating OUs offensive line because of that texas loss, its just a hunch
>>
>>63666997
It amazes me that the logic used to justify the weak big 12 schedule is the teams don't play anyone. WVU and TTU both absolutely SHIT ON Big 10 teams and SEC teams before losing to three teams that are in the top 10 and another team that spent the entire season in the top 10.

You can't get too caught up on resumes either. CFP demonstrated last year they will put in the four teams they feel are the most competitive. The only exception to this was FSU but the CFP had no choice. There is no way you can ignore an undefeated team that won the natty the year prior.
>>
>>63667028
Only difference is FSU struggled while OSU has won by a touchdown-plus against everyone. And OSU closes out against top teams. FSU played nobody last year, whereas OSU just hasn't played anybody yet.
