the metro area is only 2.3 people that is the 22nd largest in the country. throw in how big toronto and montreal and the other canuck cities are and its always one of the smallest cities that has the major pro sports teams. thats why no nba team its not big enough for all 4 but survives in the other 3 because of loyal fans

the city was broke and couldnt fund a new arena thats why they were moving. look at the steelers 65,000 people showing up to each game, the pirates with no winning seasons for over 20 years, and the penguins all surviving in a smaller city.
