If there was something a player or coach objected to, they could've pulled aside security and told them to take it down. They reserve that right and I'm sure the fans would've obliged because, fuck, they spent a shit ton on the seats.
Cam Newton thinks he's being a "leader", but he is just too stupid to grasp how to do that with nuance. Instead of being a child and ripping a banner from the hands of a couple of fans who probably paid decent money for those seats, he should've gone over, cracked some jokes with them, perhaps tell them to enjoy the game. That shit goes a lot further with fans than trying to act like a hardass by snatching a sign from an opposing fan because you feel like you are protecting "your territory."

Stadium rules say that no visiting team is allowed to have a banner hung within the stadium. Even if security let that sign slip in, security cant just arbitrarily overturn a written rule by saying so. Only the stadium ownership can do that and they haven't.
