Soldado was a cantera player at that time, I don't think he made his debut until like 2006
>>63452593
Pretty sure it's him, he was 20 at the time. Pics of him with the same kit on with Raul and Becks even, and the receding hairline and facial features are very identical

Modric left after the 2011-2012 season
2012-2013 was definitely Bale's team. He saved their arse so many times that season. Definitely the best example of a one man team out of all the top PL players. Suarez had Sturridge to help him through the season, Bale had no one.
>>63452766
>>63453199
I'd sooner say the Wales NT is bale's team
>>63453199
>2012-2013 was definitely Bale's team. He saved their arse so many times that season.
But then he left, Spurs wasted all the money they got for him and still went from finishing 5th with 72 points to finishing 6th with 69 points.
When Liverpool did the same with Suarez they went from finishing 2nd with 84 points to 5th with 62 points while also literally scoring half as many goals as in the previous season
2015-16 Bayern with Lewandowski
:^)
>>63453228
Well tbf they did also lose Sturridge to injury for that season. Their strikers were Balotelli and Lambert, it's a miracle they even got 5th.
Arsenal and Van Persie
Rivaldo with Barca in the 2000/2001 season
>>63451012
In that season, Suarez was Liverpool's best player yes but other players like Henderson, Sterling, Sturridge and even Gerrard all stepped up their game. Compare that to Arsenal 11/12, I genuinely can't name any player that was any good from that team apart from Van Persie, now that was a one man team.
>>63453242
But the difference for Liverpool was staggering, they went from a title contender with one of the most lethal attacks in league's history to a barely above average team. While Spurs barely got any worse when they lost Bale.
>>63453307
Again, after selling van Persie (and replacing him with Giroud) Arsenal improved, finishing with 73 points in the first season without him, up from the 70 points they got with him
>>63453363
I am a Gooner and I have to be honest the last season with Van Persie was my favourite Arsenal squad - even topping the Invincibles and the squads with Petit.
That team was one of the most brainless and basic teams to ever go on the pitch - it literally was "whack the ball to VP and hope the defense doesn't fuck up too badly".
The next season was actually worse because Giroud was absolute shit, Santi was a meme (still is but not so much) and Podolski couldn't do jack. Until February when we almost eliminated Bayern, Spurs were the better team. I still don't know how we got 4-th place that season.
>>63453363
>But the difference for Liverpool was staggering, they went from a title contender with one of the most lethal attacks in league's history to a barely above average team
Like i said, they also lost Sturridge. They also spent the money they got for Luis very poorly. Their downfall wasn't just down to Luis leaving, there were other factors.
>>63452382
not true for 98
>>63451997
this
>>63453440
Germany was 2.5 players.
>>63453422
But Spurs wasted all the Bale money as well. And they barely got worse, there was a one game difference between Spurs with Bale and Spurs without Bale. Liverpool just collapsed and still haven't recovered.
The difference between those impacts is so huge it can not be even compared. Losing Sturridge doesn't account for getting 22 fewer points and scoring half as many goals
>>63453463
>Losing Sturridge doesn't account for getting 22 fewer points and scoring half as many goals
Of course it does. When you lose your two goalscorers and replace them with Balotelli and Rickie Lambert, you're going to score a lot less, which results in a lot more dropped points. Gerrard was their top scorer with 9 goals ffs.
Also Liverpool wasted their money more than Spurs. At least Spurs got Eriksen out of their money. Literally all of Liverpool's signings were flops.
You know what I'm gonna say.

The best recent example. Even when Sturridge was healthy, Liverpool didn't play particularly well (with the exception of a 3-0 win over Tottenham at the beginning of the season). Suarez was their entire attack, and they never had much of a defense.
