It's not just about deaths you fucking moron, it's about injuries. Parents shit on their kids for doing "unhealthy" things like playing video games or watching netflix, then encourage them to do something objectively more dangerous. I played hockey in high school and in college - I'd rather my kid was a couch potato during his adolescent years than play a contact sport and be a literal potato when he is 40.
People treat serious injuries like torn ligaments, muscles, and broken bones as if they're not a big deal. There's nothing wrong with letting your kid play a contact sport if he's interested in it, but the mentality that they're somehow more healthy than other activities in ridiculous.

Because football is inherently, purposely dangerous. You are supposed to ram your body into other players. Obviously then, injuries, including concussions, are to be expected. So a wise parent would say no way, pick another sport.
On the other hand bike riding and swimming are all about having fun. Yes, accidents can happen as with anything in life, but bike riding isn't based on constantly crashing and hoping you don't get concussed, nor is swimming based on constantly almost drowning and hoping this time isn't your last.
It's like walking through the white part of town and getting mugged, or walking through the black part of town and getting mugged. You'll get sympathy if you did the former but everyone will think you had it coming and were an idiot who did it to yourself if you did the latter.
