Outside of that, there is nothing special about michigan. High crime, high potholes, high people, and high business owners.

Honestly depends where in the state you are. Northern Michigan is more rural, and even some people in the suburbs seem to think they live in rural Alabama. Dressing in camo, driving shitty trucks and drinking shitty beer.
Michigan sucks, but it's home.
