It's a ball ache but I found if you use shampoo and a conditioner, not a 2 in 1, especially the no frizz shit, hair becomes much more manageable and less all over the place. Same reason I think your hair should be shorter, not by much but just so you can sweep it across like it is and it not sticking up all over. If you want to try something easier just wet your hair using a flannel or something and then sweep it to the side using that flannel until no hair sticks up, then towel dry it as much as you can so its still malleable and not returning to normal and then use hairspray to style. Using that method before you're about to go to a pub or club or something was a life saver for me during busy and cheap uni times and still today.
