How to be funny, entertaining, non-autistic and match your sense of humour to your audience?
Sometimes my jokes work, sometimes they completely go over the head of the girl I'm talking to.

be mundane but really nice, like ask how their day is

risky/over the top jokes are almost always good if you're actually funny and if the joke has some context in the conversation. Cold open jokes are never good in my opinion, even if they make someone inclined to respond it doesn't transition well into an actual conversation.
