If you wanna go for some spanish red go for Rioja or Rivera del Duero, just never go for some La Mancha shit like that. It doesn't have to be hugely expensive to be good.

La mancha wine is disgusting, I have been there in wine cellars. You could not believe the process it goes through since grapes to bottled stuff. Those 1 million litre deposits are full of actual shit called tartar, and the fermentation process of the sugar to become alcohol releases deadly gas, so many animals (rats, cats, birds, lizzards) fall into the deposit and literally dissolve into the wine. Also, it is believed that in many cellars they throw a GOAT to the wine, which will dissapear soon, leaving that tasty flavour behind.
