This is true of course but goes for both. Besides, quantity only makes finding quality people harder, as you said, it doesn't mean that there are more quality people to choose from usually.
A girl might get 100+ requests and 2 of the people aren't neckbeards.
A guy might get 20+ and still just 2 of the people aren't whales.
Relationships are about much more than finding a person with compatible sexual equipment, so the mass itself is not a huge factor, hence even girls who are genuine looking and get tons of options, can end up will tons of shitty ones and none in the end.

Well, can only talk from own experience but most of the females I know from /soc/ got median amount of 50, obviously including the ones who got way over 100 and way under 50. Most guys are at 5 chicks and about as many guys. Both numbers after 1-2 weeks.
If you go for "What I am looking for: GF" obviously the number will be lower, given the male-female population here, the chicks wouldn't go for the needy, desperate guy if they can add somebody cool, while the same desperate guys would swarm any "lonely" girl.

I don't have a girlfriend because my social skills eroded because of self-imposed isolation due to mental illness during college.
