Not only that but if you're looking to do the Ph.D thing, the top 10 schools have a monopoly on 50% of the tenure track positions once you get it.
BUT! Yeah, you'll always run into the assholes starting their presidential campaigns and having a political stick shoved up their asses, but they're usually the most fun to play with.

You know, we were born in a wonderful time. This generation is growing up in a time where LGBT people, minorites, and various social groups don't have to live with the discrimination people like them faced 35-40 years ago. However, it's people like modern feminists that can't help but see race or sexual orientation first before anything else about a person, disregarding their history and personality, kinda how it used to be done decades ago. If you ask me, it's these kinds of people that are truly racist, propagating the different, and mostly negative treatment of people based on factors other than how they are as a person. That's what bothers me the most.
Also, the wage gap is a myth, for white women and otherwise. The only reason that there exists a difference in earnings is because men work higher paying jobs or more hours. No one is stopping women from doing the same.

Lots of people are still judged incredibly harshly for their sexuality. Consider for a fact that ~4/5 of the population of the US identify as Christians [census]. It is one of the doctrines of Christianity, so, granted, if they're cherry-picking moderates, then no, probably not, but an UNBELIEVABLE (seriously) amount of people think it's deplorable. I do agree though, mostly, that as far as wages and opportunities go, the only real substantial crippling factor in this area is socioeconomic class. That shit makes it real fucking hard. Poverty cycle is real fucking intense. However, it's not necessarily being black, white, female, gay, or otherwise that makes it a little more challenging for these people to get up in life (mostly in the business sector, where sociability is fairly important), but instead that they are dissimilar to the (perceived substantial) majority of others in the work place, which often inhibits their sociability (it's harder to see yourself in others who are dissimilar, and this makes it harder to relate, even if it's only to a minor degree, in some cases). Where you're perceived deficient or unlikely to succeed (even if psycho-somatically) it becomes a little bit more difficult to succeed. I'm not saying this is an excuse for failure; just raising awareness that it is somewhat of an issue for people. Make your friends and co-workers feel like they're equal, is all, really.
