Why do our alcoholic drinks contain ethanol, and not isopropanol?
A quick Wikipedia search verifies that both substances have almost the same lethal dose.
On top of that, isopropanol is metabolized to acetone, which is not only much less toxic than ethanol's metabolite, acetaldehyde, but non-cancerous as well.
What am I missing here?

Years ago when I was a fiendish alcoholic I used to drink anything with alcohol that I could get my hands on. Literally used to dilute have sanitizers and drink the pure ethanol and even rubbing alcohol. Isopropyl is extremely bitter and leaves a harsh burn in the back of the throat. Much harsher than drinking everclear

Is there an ideal drug where:
a) overdose is unlikely/impossible
b) doesn't make you act like a fool even if you over-do it

GBL is pretty mild on hangovers, also it makes for a much better aphrodisiac than alc.
one thing GBL can do tho is make you quite anxious. also because hangovers dont really exist (just drink lost of water with it) it's easy to just do it constantly, ie high addictive potential.
oh, and of course overdosing is fucking serious business. do not mix it with other stuff (just drop alc altogether, it's literally shit)

what I mean by this, btw, is that on the comedown you might be a bit on edge / wired / anxious. weird to describe. it motivates you, but also makes you more prone to anxiety attacks.
