in the dubs category, the chances are spread between 10 possibilities (one for each digit).
So the chance of obtaining the string "X77" where X is not 7 is 9/1000.

How the fuck is singles 9/10?
singles are 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 are all possible thus singles equal 100% of your first digit being a number
dubs are 00,11,22,33,44,55,66,77,88,99 or 10 sets out of 100 therefore there is a 10% chance of getting dubs
Trips have the same idea 000,111,222,333,444,555,666,777,888,999 10 cases out of 1,000 chances making it a 1% chance
for quads 0.1%, for quints 0.01%
Now just for specific numbers lets call whatever number (0-9) X, now for number X to occur there is a 1/10^n power n being the number of digits
So lets say you wanted to be the devil with 6 trips
well 1/10^n = 1/10^3 = 1/1000 = 0.001% chance

imagine looking at all the last two digits.
10 of them are at least dubs (meaning potentially trips, quads etc, we don't care for now): 00, 11, 22,..., 99
All the others are guaranteed pure singles.
So 90 out of the 100 possibilities are pure singles, which is 9/10.
Now, imagine D is the probability for dubs.
It's easy to see that the probability for trips is D/10.
That of quads is 10 times less (D/100) and so on.
Therefore the probability of dubs+trips+quads+... is the probability of NON-pure-singles, or 1/10.
But it is also equal to D+D/10+D/100+D/1000+... (geometric series), which sums up to 10D/9.
On one side, we have 1/10 (probability of non-pure-singles), and on the other, we have 10D/9 (sum of probability of pure dubs, pure trips, pure quads, etc).
By equating them, we get the probability of dubs D = 9/100.
And we deduce the probability of trips, quads and so on by dividing by 10 each time.
