It's due to conflicting worldviews. What's weird is that people didn't have a problem with it when it pertained to animals only, but once humans entered the mix, then people got a little "concerned."

What about animal breeding, though? Dogs being a prime example of a specie's phenotypes being mutated to an almost unrecognizable extent from the original animal. Microevolution is empirically provable and explains sexual selection in both humans and animals perfectly; obviously macroevolution is a logical necessity following micro.
