If an object 90% the mass of Earth that is going to hit us in 30 years was discovered right now, would we be able to stop it?
>>

No.
That's why we should stop being chained to this fucking rock.
>>
>>8083351
No.

We would probably fall into chaos and witness an extinction level event unlike anything other.
>>

>>8083357
Okay, easier scenario.

We have to avoid it, not stop it dead in its tracks.
>>

Still no. Even if it was made out of neutron star and only meters in diameter. Gravity 2 stronk
>>

that's really the same thing. You try to change the velocity of an object as massive as the earth either way.

Just hope Bropiter does its job and brace for the impact because we're all going to melt or be vaporized.

So... if something like this does happen we're just fucked? How long will it take for us to be able to save our selves from masses this large?

We do not want Theia 2.0 being the full stop of our species
>>

well the good news is we would have to become able to colonize venus in less than 30 years. We would also be forced to focus most of our ressources in finding a way to gtfo, so it might not take very long.
World wars also do wonders in terms of technological developments.

> tfw ww3 will either send us back to the stone age or push us towards a full on space exploration age

Win win in both cases.

For something to have 90% the mass of earth, it would have to be on the same scale as earth. (unless it's made out of neutron star matter or something) We already know about objects that big in the solar system so I wouldn't worry about it.

Smaller asteroids on the hand are not fully catalogued at all.
>>
>>8083351
we already know all larger objects and their orbits, none will ever hit us
