Anything, really. I can't speak for others but my interest stems from the fact that there's vast amounts of knowledge waiting for us out there along with how space travel is the ultimate in limit breaking.

Resources on Earth are finite. Without 100% efficiency in recycling, an impossibility, we will likely run out within a few generations at current consumption levels. Consumption levels which are not going to decrease without a global paradigm shift involving significant population control; a policy no-one will implement until it's far too late and would be immoral at in any case. The only way our species can survive long (loong) term is if we can take in resources from other planets and asteroids.

To some extent. I don't believe it's entirely man-made if that's what you're asking. The point is moot, anyway, because there is a finite supply of the resources which cause the man-made portion of climate change (and, indeed, other environmental degeneration not related to climate). Our current, and only, method of survival requires those resources so we will have to develop some way to replenish them.
