Well, they were really great in the beginning, but there's so many now that good ones are a diamond in the rough. It is along the lines of the same curve creepypasta went downhill.

>click on a video titled "why I love prime numbers"
>dude is a mathematician
>thisgonbgud
>he starts off explaining the basics of what prime numbers are
>"did you know there are huuuuuuuge prime numbers?"
>"and I mean like huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge"
>rest of the 10 or so minutes of the video is him just putting into perspective how large the largest known prime number is
expected him to go into the uses for prime numbers in cryptography or something. nope, apparently the reason this mathematician loves prime numbers is how large some of them are
I think I have yet to find a TED talk that was interesting at all. I have yet to check out all the videos in this thread though

And their educational videos are crap. This one for example tries to teach people conditional probability by replicating the Boy Girl Problem but they fuck it up by introducing the mechanism of male frogs croaking, which changes the problem.

There is no scientific evidence for any of Savory's claims.

Seeing is believing.
>>8010384
You don't have to believe anything if you have scientific evidence. The studies of these grazing techniques show that it doesn't work. Anecdotes are not evidence.

Theres one called "The Science Delusion" which was banned from uploading
Last time I watched a TED talk (not TEDx) the guy started off with a long story about how his great uncle was killed at Auschwitz. Had nothing to do with the subject matter but he thought it was necessary to let us know that he was an oppressed minority because some relative that died before he was even born did so during a war. It's just people parading their political credentials now. I switched over to Talks@Google for a while. They're not as slick as TED but are usually an hour or so in length so you get more meat. Unfortunately they've lately become almost all about SJW issues. Not sure where to go for actual science and technology talks now.

I agree about PLEB talks. They're just a platform for assholes to try and convince rich people (the live audience) to give them money or other resources.
Google talks are significantly better but some of them are just general interest or for fun. Either way, I enjoy them, maybe because I'm not /pol/ cancer.
The best resources in my opinion are:
>university youtube channels with lots of hosted talks such as
(UCTV) https://www.youtube.com/user/UCtelevision/playlists
I know UCTV's playlist looks crappy on the surface, but look around. They've got this amazing "Grey Matters" series with really great talks burried in there. I think the infamous "Sugar: The Bitter Truth" talk is on UCTV as well. Here's a Grey Matters video.

To be clear. The list I posted isn't any sort of definitive list. Just a short list of examples for alternative places to find good talks. There are many more interesting talks out there that aren't hosted at PLEB talks or Google talks.
