If you know anything about living tissue all your warning bells would go off almost instantly.
Any artificial organ anything would not be slapped onto a steel surface but some sterilized nutrient solution. They'd not have the sharp borders as the pieces have and there's no sensible way to connect biological connectors with simple plug and play interfaces like that.
