Move the fuck over graphene, there's a new kid in town carbyne!
>>“According to theoretical models, carbyne’s mechanical properties exceed all known materials, outperforming both graphene and diamond.”

> A single layer of graphite, named graphene, can then be rolled or folded into carbon nanotubes or fullerenes, respectively.
OK? So how do you fold a sheet into a sphere? "With care" is not the answer.
However using (double walled) nano tubes as exoskeletons is rather ingenious. Terminjatinbg with N atoms this could have interesting applications as fuel, going beyond cyanogen and also carbon subnitride - which used to be considered impossible.

You don't.
>> fuel
You made a perfect and crazy strong nanomaterial and you want to burn it? That's a pretty silly idea.

Hm?
>>> fuel

High density fuel is valuable especially for jet and rocket propulsion. That is not stupid in my books.
Also cyanogen has a very hugh burn temnperature, carbon sub nitride is even higher (about 5000 C) so you can basically melt rock into lava. If this material can provide even higher temperature it could have interesting applications.
Are you really familiar with these carbon structures?

Exotic propellants have turned out to be huge boondoggles in the past:

Ah, Boranes. i always wondered why this was not used in the Blackbird. After all it was meant to scream along on afterburner for extended periods of time, or basically the time it took to hammer across the entire width of the Soviet Union.
Also they used TEB to start the engines so it was not unknown at the time.
If you want to up the ante in excoticity I would recommend the aptly named Propellane.

With names like Adamantane and Twistane, what could possibly go wrong?
