they say graphine the future of science because graphine does everything better than everything else
it is the best conductor and insulator, its the hardest and most flexible (more than diamonds), its the most lightest and strongest, and it converts sunlight into energy
they say graphine will be used instead of iron and steel, and instead of natural gas we will use graphine fuel for our cars
and they say graphine will replace transistors in computers because it is faster than metal at moving electrons
once graphine takes off it will be a revolution never seen before and the calendars will changed to BG and AG (before graphine and after graphine)
but i have one question. if graphine is so amazing, why arent we already using it now?
please shut up

I give up, why?
>>7994750
i dsont know

Hard af to make right
no reliable way to mass produce it yet
>and instead of natural gas we will use graphine fuel for our cars
This may be the most retarded hype thing I've ever heard said about graphene.
It's cool material with some interesting properties. But if you're waiting for a world-changing graphene revolution you're just drinking kool aid.

There only thing interesting to me able graphene is that if an enzyme could make it, integrating it into human anatomy yields interesting possibilities.

>graphine
Semi-serious answer: we have no reliable or cost-effective way to produce large sheets of graphene. It's been sort of over-hyped, but it will probably have some interesting applications in the future. I doubt it will revolutionize computers since it acts as a semimetal with no bandgap unless you modify it or subject it to fields in certain ways.
You're about five years away from being able to post here, OP.

The most obvious use case being human graphene farms.

Carbon nanotube hair?
if you fill a bee hive with carbon does it become graphite?

>but i have one question. if graphine is so amazing, why arent we already using it now?
A few more months of thinking and your thread might have been posted with some actual content. Good job on not swallowing your own rhetoric, OP.
nanomachines son
we will have graphene nanomachines swirling around our insides fucking shit up and making us cool

No. Just no. I hate this grapene buzzword.
>>7994734
Graphene is a single layer of graphite
Graphite is the weak ass useless shit you put in pencils
Graphene thus has no practical uses

Becauae we don't know everything about it yet; research about its electronic properties is pretty much ongoing. My PhD thesis is actually about graphene edges.
Microsoft is apparently looking to use graphene in quantum computers, so maybe something might come or of it.
I'm mainly a mathematical physicist so I don't really give a fuck though.
