why dont we use railguns to launch radioactive waste barrels to the moon?

Why do that? Just make a waste disposible company, make the industrial plants pay you to take their waste, dilute it into the public water supply below the levels required by the FDA, and make municipalities pay you for the waste products?
it is win-win-win for you.

Railguns as they currently exist are not powerful enough to do that. Also there is really no issue with storing waste besides politicians and their constituents being dumb.

Because then you would make future moon geologists very angry. Just think, how are they gonna do those isotopic analysis on the moon to learn more about our place in the cosmos if the moon is polluted with radioactive garbage.
Reprocessing is the way to go.
thanks for the feedback guys

Because railguns are too damn cute to waste on something like that.

It's too late, we've already started leaving radioactive junk there.

jesus christ atleast leave moon alone ffs
>>7986013
Because high grade waste still has value and can be recycled into more fuel, weapons, or medicine.
Low grade waste is not worth the cost. Just bury it in Nevada.

>implying the moon landing was not a fake.

you can literally fit them in metal containers and reduce the radiation to background (for nuclear waste). If you launch it to the moon it will cost its weight in gold
