Anyone cop anything neat that's science related lately?
I just picked up this Ohaus analytical balance for $150.00 on eBay. I was half expecting it to be too good to be true, but took the gamble anyway, and I just set up and calibrated the thing and it works perfectly.

My university has some of these in the inorganic chemistry building
You have to put your name in a list every time you use it

It's a sailboat napkin holder.

I didn't think of that, next time I buy some cards I'll have to try to figure out the weight difference.

I'm totally up for getting sci-related stuff, but why would you need a high-precision balance at home?

so you have a set of reference weights to verify that it's properly calibrated?

Yes, I bought an ASTM-1 100g weight that I calibrated it with.
>>7975120
that's a good start but you need more than one reference to verify calibration, especially for a scale that's usually used for milligram-scale masses

I weighed some coins, they came out right. It's not like I'll be using it for microgram-critical applications anyway. No need for autism.
