I remember hearing about this some time ago.
If i remember correctly, it was 'solved' by a guy who wrote his master's(!) thesis about quadratic equations.
What do you think?

Weird, I tried looking up a CV of this guy, but he is incredibly elusive.
All I find are articles that say his claim is hoax. Apparently even the BBC fell for it.
He is not even listed on his faculty's homepage.
