Suppose you performed an independent-samples t-test to evaluate mean differences between two groups in a study. Then, you performed an ANOVA on the same data. You noticed that the critical t and critical F values in your two tests seem to be related somehow.

Assuming your study had 20 people (10 in each group), describe the relation between the critical values of t and F in each test.

If you only have 2 variables, i.e. y=mx+c

Then your first degree of freedom in the anova is 1 (i forget if this is the MSS or RSS or TSS df, but it's the one that's k-1)

If this d.f. is 1, then the f-stat = (t-stat)^2

You can derive this yourself quite easily
