I stopped going to lectures since 2014.
Lectures should frankly be banned and replaced with independent study with a tutor or in small groups. The professors don't want to be there and the students don't want to be there. But they have to still attend because "muh college regulations" and keeping up appearances.

We do the bio lectures in Sherfield building and some of the lecturers are just bored and suck ass. Might as well not go.
However, in some other lectures, the lecturer is genuinely interested in teaching us and we get extra notes (not included in slides) worth 4-6 pages long, which goes a long way to expand our understanding on the subject. So, overall, I guess you are partly correct, but exceptions in very good lecturers do exist.

I'm saying I somewhat agree, because some of the lectures are good, so they shouldn't be scrapped. Especially if they contain materials that means they can't be shared outside of lectures, like patient data, autopsy pictures, etc.
However, other lectures are complete shit.
For you physics autists though, there is no human tissue act legally defining pictures of patient organs as identical to the actual organ, so you have no legal restrictions for having all your material available without lectures.

Lectures are useless for learning, but a good lecturer will do much more than teach. The opinion of most of the academics I know is that lectures exist to inspire - the lecturer should be a "performer" almost. Actually "learning" is secondary. My tutor in my undergrad degree told me to throw all of my lecture notes away.

Had 142 and 148 on two test a psychologist took a few years back. Had a discrepancy between verbal and something else of like 30 points.
