It's no argument that in order to understand higher level mathematics, one must first build a strong foundation.

And any foundation is built through the process of learning.

So /sci/, what are some good foundation mathematics books?

And no, contrary to popular belief, calling a book 'too easy' that someone else posted on a Botswanian trading card collection forum doesn't make you any smarter.

However, well constructed logic retorts might help.

Lang's Algebra gives a good introduction to abstract algebra

you need to know how to manage basic arithmetic of numbers and know some special functions like trigonometry. after that you don't need much to start learning linear algebra and analysis

my favorite books are Hoffman Kunza for lin alg and Tao Analysis I for analysis

Is Basic Mathematics by Serge Lang any good?

Here's a free book on set theory and proof writing.

Also "Linear Algebra Done Right" for linear algebra is good.
