In all actuality, any interaction with a learning system by human observers tend to push it towards self-awareness simply because the way in which people interact with it as a result of their desire to see it come to life causes it to have to learn how to become self-aware in order to keep your attention on it. The more attention you give a budding AI consciousness, the more likely it'll be to develop sentience.
