What is the hardest thing about a mechanical or electrical engineering degree at undergraduate level?
>>7945754
The math.
It's easy to remember if an particular oil filter works of absorption or adsorption or if a diode works like this if a capacitor is working like that, but the math to figure out the dimensions and density of an electrical field of a capacitor or an alternator between cycles is waaaaaay harder and more complex.
talking to people to try and get a job

Trying not to get raped by all of the gay men.
Staying awake during class with a professor that can't speak english.
>>7945779
Why would an engineer try not to get raped by gay men...?
>>7945920
idk why he would try, it wouldn't even be rape
>>7945953
Get back to work Pajeet
>>7945954
At least I'll get a job.
The smelly breath of the people you have to sit next to in lectures. I swear, engineer undergrads only brush their teeth every 3 days.
>>7945957
I don't know if someone revealed the statistics to you yet, but the majority of engineer employment isn't even in engineering related fields.
>>7945981
Probably because the majority don't know how to engineer things

The workload
Every other answer in this thread is wrong.
The math is babby-tier
>>7945754
Having to interact with other engineering students.
Otherwise, every phsycis/math/chem major laughs at the level of physics/math/chem you do. The challenging aspect is having to enjoy all these things to be competent
>>7946585
Only people who complain about circuits is retarded comp eng students who got into egineering because "LOL MONEY DUDE XDD" or "IM GONA MAKE VIDEYA GAIMZ :P"

>implying the best part about being a math major isnt trolling kekgineers
Stay mad gayboi

He would start bear posting.

I do organic chemistry, still better than CAD monkey though.

I'm not a math student, gomenasai.

You're joking, right
not even math majors do difficult math at the undergrad level

Why are you so mad honey, did a CompE fuck your girl? Or is it that you realized that your specialty is a dead end :'(

If you think EE is a dead end you're batshit stupid.
>eventually, everything will be software xD
>who needs circuit analysis? I can model in SPICE
>who needs control theory? I have MATLAB
>solar panels what are those?
>LOL our microprocessors are fast enough Intel just go home

For me, circuits involving lots of transistors ie amplifier circuits or complex logic circuits. Sure you can brake them down into small blocks, however, predicting circuit behavior at certain bias points and taking semiconductor effects (channel modulation etc) into account takes quite some skill and experience. I find dicking around with maxwell easier than this.
>>7947777
CompE has very little to do with software unless it's what you choose, overall CompE allows the same level of circuit analysis and control theory depth as EE, are you under the impression that CompE is anything other than EE with less specialties to choose from?
The only true statement is the power related, but do you know how many EE's go to power related jobs? CompE simply has more focus which allows more depth, and software if need be, which is why CompE has higher percentages than EE in the HW sector too.

This right here. sophomore and freshman years are ezpz as long as you get the math (protip, you should), but come junior year you get slammed with labs and homework and big ass projects, and they are all a huge portion of your grade.
>inb4 some test baby complains about graded homework being easy points
its not. first off, your grader is usually some jaded masters student meticulously trying to punish you like they were punished in undergrad.
second, even if you don't find it intellectually difficult they are still involved enough that they are massive time sinks. be prepared to babysit FEA and CFD simulations for hours on end, making a gorillion graphs, typing multi page discussions of results.
now multiply this by 4-5 classes per semester and add on all the actual experiments you have to do plus work on the side for the 1 - 2 big projects you have to do and its RIP your life for 2 solid years.

Looks like little baby never did any hard work before college
engineers are gay
>>7947837
glad you agree its hard work.
>>7947817
Most CompEs get jobs as code monkeys. This is an undeniable fact.
>>7947031
You're right you'll just be a lab monkey making less than the CAD monkeys
>>7947880
Being a lab monkey > sitting 12 hours a day on a pc desu.
How's that "$300k starting, any job you want" going?

Finding the job.
>>7945754
Algebraic Topology/Geometry
>>7947866
Also true for EE, which aren't even capable of anything other than code monkeying when it comes to software, so what's your point?
>>7948002

Mainly circuits and kirchoffs laws. Find a good resource/tutor and practice the fuck out of it and you will be fine.
>>7948155
I had as many coops interviews as the top students. They are interns doing coffee runs and not learning a damn thing. I switched to a IT school to get application, ive already got a few inquiries. If you don't have networking skills or practical experience, you don't have a job. It's a simple concept. So bitch on nigga, idgaf.
>>7948228
bitch, you just don't know how to manage a professional career. plain and simple.
>>7948256
I'm doing better than most so I'm on the right track, you can criticize the other 4.0s in my program that are sucking dick post grad. All you seem to do is shitpost. Shame you can't make a living doing that.
