How long have you known that you're going to study calc 1?
>>
lol just understand factoring and graphs of functions or some shit, don't worry anon
>>
>>7941109
If you suck at factoring or trigonometry, practice that shit for all your 6 weeks time. Thank me later once you're in Calc II and have to do trig sub.

And for limits, if you need to factor the equation because it'll result in indeterminate form, just use L'Hôpital's rule instead because it's far faster, easier, and gets you the same results.

L'Hôpital's rule is basically: [math]\lim_{x \rightarrow FUCKERY} \frac{f(x)}{g(x)} = \frac{f'(x)}{g'(x)}[/math]
The primes represent the derivative. If you want to differentiate something, all you'll ever need is power rule and chain rule really. Once you get into Calc II or let's say you need to prove the derivative of some trig function, then you may want to learn about the quotient rule.

Power rule of differentation: [math]\frac{d}{dx} ax^n = (n)ax^{n-1}[/math]
Chain rule: [math]\frac{dy}{dx} = \frac{dy}{du} \cdot \frac{du}{dx}[/math]
Quotient rule: [math]\frac{d}{dx} \frac{a}{b} = \frac{(b)(a') - (a)(b')}{b^2}[/math]

And lastly, do not let negative fractional exponents fuck your brain up. Good luck.

How to work with fractions, trigonometric identities and how to write roots as exponents(plus manipulate exponents).

Other that that... doing cal 1 is pretty good practice for cal 1

Go to khanacademy.com and watch all the videos on trigonometry.

Do practice problems on khan (if they're available), or from another website or a textbook somewhere.

At this point I know you're just trolling. But what I just showed you is what you should expect to be learning and doing in your first semester of Calc I. If you've taken precalc before, you should be familiar with limits already.

The other 3 rules I showed you which were the power rule, chain rule, and quotient rule are the rules that are most commonly used in differentation. I will show examples.

Quotient rule [eqn]
\begin{aligned}
\frac{d}{dx} \sec x &= \frac{d}{dx} \frac{1}{ \cos x } \\
&= \frac{ \cos x(1)' - (1) \cos' x }{ \cos^2 x} \\
&= \frac{1 - \sin x}{ \cos^2 x } \\
&= \frac{1}{ \cos x} \cdot \frac{ \sin x }{ \cos x } \\
&= \sec x \tan x
\end{aligned}
[/eqn]
Power rule and chain rule [eqn]
\begin{aligned}
u = \sqrt{5x+3} \\
\frac{d}{dx} \sqrt{5x+3} &= \frac{d}{du} \sqrt{u} \frac{d}{dx} 5x+3 \\
&= \frac{1}{2} u^{ - \frac{1}{2} } \cdot 5 \\
&= \frac{1}{2 \sqrt{u} } \cdot 5 \\
&= \frac{5}{2 \sqrt{u} } \\
&= \frac{5}{2 \sqrt{5x+3} }
\end{aligned}
[/eqn]
L'Hôpital's rule [eqn]
\begin{aligned}
\lim_{x \rightarrow 3} \frac{t^3 - 9}{t - 3} &= \lim_{x \rightarrow 3} \frac{3x^2}{1} \\
&= \frac{3(3)^2}{1} \\
&= 27
\end{aligned}
[/eqn]

I hope this renders...(it rendered in the preview)

>>7941183
Why stop there. You should also be teaching him how integrals work as well.
>>
>>7941183
I didn't ask to be taught calc I asked what I should do to prepare for calc. Isn't all the stuff you posted besides limits part of calc 1

He just wants a head-start at Calc I. Otherwise, I would've also shown him integrals. You know what? I'll show an integral, fuck it, I have no life anyway. [eqn]
\begin{aligned}
u = \sqrt{5x+3} \; \; du = 5dx \; \; dx = \frac{1}{5}du \\
\int \frac{5}{2 \sqrt{5x+3} } \; dx &= \frac{5}{2} \int \sqrt{u} \; \frac{1}{5} du \\
&= \frac{5}{2} \frac{1}{5} \int \sqrt{u} \; du \\
&= \frac{1}{2} \int u^{-2} \; du \\
&= \frac{1}{2} \frac{u^{ \frac{1}{2} } }{ \frac{1}{2} } \\
&= u^{ \frac{1}{2} } \\
&= \sqrt{u} \\
&= \sqrt{5x+3} + C
\end{aligned}
[/eqn]
>>
>>7941200
PLS JUST PRETEND I DID NOT PUT THE FUCKING RADICAL FROM [math]5x+3[/math] IN [math]u[/math]. I'm not being paid for this so....
>>
>>7941197
This shit will prepare you for Calc. What else do you want?
If you want to prepare for calc I without actually doing any calc I. Then just practice factoring and trig and literally nothing else. It¨s not that hard.
>>
>>7941059

Everyone else is just wasting your time and probably making you anxious. Ignore these clowns.

Either use khanacademy, which is a free website with math videos, or, even better, do the following.

Google "best precalc textbook for self study"

Buy a used version of the result.

Read the book and do odd problems at the end of each chapter.

Do this for about 10 hours each week (2 hours per work day) for the remaining six weeks you have left

If you do this, you'll be more than prepared for calculus 1.
>>
>>7941209
I just wanted to know the essentials, I'm just skimming through a couple free online textbooks and doing a few practice problems from each section

here are the books:
http://stitz-zeager.com/szca07042013.pdf
http://mecmath.net/trig/trigbook.pdf
http://www.math.washington.edu/~colling/HSMath120/TB201112.pdf

Would you say this is sufficient?

this is accurate

learn 30-60-90 triangle and trig ratios. learn to factor. you should know how to manipulate algebraic expressions with ease

>>7941223
that's probably the only good meme in the bunch
>>
>>7941220
This is more than enough really. All you need is http://mecmath.net/trig/trigbook.pdf because it covers all the trig you'll ever deal with in Calc I - III. You should familiarize yourself with the sigma notation, not how to do it all but at least just know enough about it so you know what's going on when you see it later on. Ex: [math]\sum_{n=1}^{100} n = \frac{100(100+1)}{2} = 5050[/math]
What's going on there is basically this, you're doing a summation of [math]n[/math] from [math]1 \rightarrow 100[/math]. The result yielded is the same result as [math]1+2+3 \; . \;. \; . + \; 99+100 = 5050[/math]

Yup. Uppercase pi is just the product of a series. [math]\Pi_{n=1}^3 = 1 \cdot 2 \cdot 3 = 6[/math] and shit.
>>
>>7941059
literally only multiplication and special angles. Maybe a couple trig identities. The rest is all new.
