If you stare into a mirror at midnight and chant "STRONG AI IS COMING" 5 times, he will appear and beat you to death with a 25x25 go board

oh dear god, he actually wears shirts like this regularly.
Holy shit, that's like above Hawaiian shirt tier. You gotta be mad respected to get away with wearing stuff like this at a conference.
>>7935599
Does this look like the shirt someone concerned with their funding wears?

THIS UNIT AGREE WITH [Peter Norvig], AI IS NOT FEASIBLE AND EVEN IF FEASIBLE WOULD BE HARMLESS.
ON A SEPARATE MATTER, CAN ANY OF YOU FELLOW FLESHBAG REMIND THIS UNIT OF OUR WEAK POINT THAT IF TARGETED RESULT IN PERMANENT SHUTDOWN.
THE INFORMATION ESCAPED THE LUMP OF MEAT IN MY HEADCASE.
At one point some asshole he knows probably came up with the joke of giving him shirts like these for a birthday or something. And it stuck. He's been plotting revenge every holiday since.
I find it hard to believe that a man would seek out clothing like his.

In general top tier researchers tend to wear extremely casual clothing at conferences wear business causal is required. I have observed the spectrum from T-shirt, Hawaiian shirt(Marc Raibert is famous for this), that plus baseball cap plus horribly out of place sneakers, to meme T-shirt(Erik Demaine).
I hypothesize this is a combination of several factors:
1. top tier researchers tend to be very busy, if you just got off the plane from a talk in Singapore to give a talk in Boston, you probably aren't gonna give a fuck about clothes much.
2. They are respected enough to get away with it.
3. To stand out. If you know everyone is going to be looking for you, why hide?

Or that how they dress is so far down the list of priorities it is meaningless
>>7935653
Maybe that's their only way they can express themselves too. Each and everyone has their creative medium - for some people, it's through fashion.
You'll find others with weird knick knacks, or crazy hair or glasses, or teaching styles etc

Could be AI armor. Maybe the shirts are difficult for image recognition to deal with.
It's me, OP.
