I'm pretty sure it's like a bruise under your nail. Experiment, choose a finger with none of the white marks, choose a part that is visible and take a pointed thing like mechanical pencil tip and just mash hell out of your finger. Should hurt and be red. Don't puncture nail though. Wait a day or two and see if it becomes white. I've tried this and Im very confident that's all it is
