I am not surprised. Half the engineers I graduated with are retards who have no business being in engineering.
>>7923000
Then how did they graduate?
Is the greed of the schools allowing them to pass students who should not?

Don't you learn that in highschool?
The US (and the UK) has crazy grade inflation, this is why people here need to study 2 hours a day to get an 80 average(3.0 you fags) while in other countries 2 hours is going to get you nothing but 55/100 if you're lucky.
Some people that graduate today shouldn't.

Yes. This is the case with my university. They fix grades in order to avoid making the university look bad.
However, I feel that this will eventually come back and make them look bad anyway. When the students from "x" university get a reputation for not knowing how to perform basic tasks related to their field. I hate my school.
>>7925043
People haven't just become better at teaching then? Why would teachers want to inflate their student's grades, are they pressured by the school's leaders to look good? And why would it be a problem that started in the 60's then?
>>7925035
other countries use archaic teaching methods and one-shot final exams. they don't even do graded assignments most of the time.
>force people to practice something
>surprised when they do better
you could argue that this is hand-holding, and i'd probably agree, but the end result is that the students graduate being more educated. its why our secondary schools are top notch.
>>7925440
The one shot final exams is true, but most programs I know have assignments, although it's part in the final grade is usually 20% or less , it's usually more time demanding than the US's.
The reason of US's superiority in this matter is questionable, I'd say higher budgets is a closer reason, great students end up being greater, but the bad students, instead of being weeded out, stay, with high grades even.
