Betelgeuse is a Red Giant star easily visible in clear nights sky in the constellation of Orion. It is located 640 ly from Earth. This star can become a supernova at ANYTIME... Maybe it has even may have happened. Who knows.. When it happens, it will shine as bright to be visible in the sky during the day.

would be nice if it happened while we are alive
>>7846970
can the jet of betelgeuse reach us?

You mean 600 years ago

>You mean 600 years ago
No, he means it happens now, but he's still alive in 640 years.

>even may have happened
Both Betelgeuse and Rigel have used up all of their hydrogen and are no longer main sequence stars.
Observe the 'foot,' they said, a supernova closer than 1000 ly triggers massive genetic modifications.
Rigel (Beta Orionis) - distance 860 light years (second Hipparcos reduction).
Happy Stargazing!

It's not pointed at us. Even then, at that distance, the effects would be negligible.

The effects are most apparent when inspecting cells of the feet.
Betelgeuse, Betelgeuse ... Betelgeuse

I think it points to Rijl Jauzah al-Yusra, left foot of the Jauzah (the Orion figure, the Hunter).
