Isn't this how the meme drive operates that NASA recently discovered and still can't figure out? What if he managed to find a very tiny version that uses ambient energy instead of powerful microwaves. Eveny with tiny thrust if enough are stacked onto each other you could fly. Attributing this as UFO technology or warping space/time could just be him not understanding what he's looking at. I believe he's an entomologist, not a physicist after all.
