What are some good specific transferable skills and sciences to land a top tier job?

I will start with the most obvious, even though I'm going to study biology:

Whats a top tier job?
If youre talking about money earning then the finance sector/entrepreneur is the only way to go. Every thing else will only make you a salary.

If youre talking about difficulty then thats more research science type stuff, breaking new ground and having to invent new ways of thinking.

Otherwise i dont really understand what you mean by top tier. Wow-ing other people? Be special forces or a fighter pilot.
Working with nature? Be a ranger or photographer
