Because force is an acceleration which is a change in momentum. Changing the momentum of something usualy tends to move it in space.

Force doesn't move things, it IS the movement of things. Specifically the acceleration of mass.

m can be taken as a constant usually, so it's not really important it just scales the answer. The physics behind it is in the 'a' term which is a second derivative. F = ma is actually a 2nd order differential equation (or a system of them if you're in 3d). When you write it in standard form you divide by the constant m, so it doesn't change anything in the solution except it scales it by some factor.
