That's not unique to humans, and epinephrine / cortisol are not steroids. It's dualistic and can be bad as much as good.

I'd like to see a single modern human that can manage this. Yes, we "can" do a lot of things, eventually. But we don't.
Also, persistence hunting isn't quite what you think it is.
