What level of math do I need to start reading non-pleb quantum mechanics texts?

Define "non-pleb"
>>7742483
Mathematical rigor.
>>7742478
Calc III, linalg, diffy q's, probability theory
>>7742484
Mathematically rigorous QM doesn't exist. There's QM with various degrees of abstraction but no rigorous QM.

Functional Analysis
You need to complete Partial Differential Equations first, preferably a graduate level course. An undergraduate course in PDE will suffice depending on how competent the instructor is.
Mine was not very competent, but I learned quite a bit. But definitely not enough for understanding quantum mechanics.
>>7742478
mostly linear algebra, rest is easy to understand

This. Then start with something like Griffith's and after perturbation theory, move to advanced quantum mechanics (for example by Nazarov). Look at online course material from MIT if it's available, or from other universities. Such programs offer good insight in what the logical path is in learning a certain field.

Then QM is fucking bullshit.
>>7742574
The rest of physics is bullshit too then.

>I don't get how physics or mathematics works
Pls leave.
Depends on the text. Some are beyond me, some are popsci.
Linear algebra. Literally it.
A physical quantum system is described by a Hilbert space [math]\mathcal{H}[/math]. The various vectors in this space are the states of your system. Observables correspond to hermitian linear operators acting within this space. Time evolution is given by the Schrodiner equation, [math]\hat{H}|\psi>=i\partial_t|\psi>[/math] . There you have it, quantum mechanis.

Most linear algebra deals primarily with finite-dimensional vector spaces. I'd look into functional analysis as well.

Once you know linear algebra and know how to do separation of variables for PDEs you are basically prepared to read a graduate level QM book like Sakurai, though a little knowledge of functional analysis could help.
