pentel p209 mechanical pencil

i really dislike the ink smell and it annoys me too much. mechanical pencil is very easy to use and lasts a long time.

As a math major, I use pen and only pen. Usually thick black ink, Papermate Flair felt tip or Pilot G2. Yeah, I can't erase my work, I've had to cross out entire pages of work on exams many times, but you know what? It looks good, feels good, and is easier to read and write with, and that's all I care about.
>>
I use a highlighter most of the time, except on exams, I use magic markers.

I make too many weird little mistakes for pens.

I tend to think further ahead than I'm writing, especially on exams or submission work where I have to make sure it's legible. That means I often write something from the next part of the problem/equation in the middle of the current problem/equation. Having to cross out the whole line of work just because I accidentally put one variable when it was supposed to be another would end up taking forever.

Cheapest 0.7mm mechanical pencils all the way. Doesn't rip my paper like thinner lead can and I can press hard if I need to make my writing clear over top of all my eraser marks.

Also, thick lead means I can do some shading on the doodles I inevitably draw when I get bored in class.
>but still erase them all when they become pictures of dicks
>>
Wood Pencil.
Because I don't need to spend more than a few cents on a fucking writing stick that'll probably get stolen after the first day by someone on this /thread
>>
>>7740989
I don't mind the smell, and I liked to use pen a lot but recently fell in love with mechanical pencils. I use a brand called Zebra which is fairly popular and good quality build for the price.

How much of an autist do you have to be to get shit on your hands?
>>
>>7743016
Just have to be left handed, and writing in a left-to-right language.
>>
I prefer this, only because it leaves a nice indentation on my fingers when I write. It grips so well.
>>
Pen because it minimizes my chances of making a mistake as I take more time to solve the problem

OHTO PM-1503P
0.3 is noice for detailed drawings and I can write with it too, plus the adjustable lead sheath (dunno what it's called, the bit just around where the actual lead comes out) length is useful, having it a bit shorter than maximum length make writing more comfortable and also lets you make it pocket safe. I really like the bit that lets you adjust how much is dispensed per click. The lead grade indicator is a nice feature but I doubt I'll use it, HB is fine for me
Drawback is that any time I let someone else use it, they click it like five fucking times and then seem surprised when the lead snaps
>>
You are a man-child if you use peb.
>>
definitely a pen, only autists take the time to erase things and rewrite them. the equation you've just written is not a piece of art to be cherished it's an answer to task.

I'm right wing and I use an Uni Kuru Toga together with an Ain Stein Black polymer eraser. I care about my shit being legible years after I wrote them down, so I don't like to have to strike mistakes I make with pen, because it can get a real mess. Erasing purges the mistake.

I use the Rotring 600 at the very top in 0.5mm for everything except lab. Hands down the best pencil I've ever used. If you're in math intensive courses, I'd recommend getting a drafting pencil with a knurled metal grip, specifically a Rotring. You'll never want to use anything else after getting one.

.7mm mech pencils. While it's important having a comfy and ergonomic pencil, it's also very important that you get some nice lead with it. I use 2B pentel led.

Pic related.

1st year math major and because of the dark tone of the ink, to the untrained eye it looks really cool, edgy and like if I was doing really top tier mathematics like inter-universal teichmuller theory when actually I'm doing basic homomorphism proofs.

I love black ink.

pic related for notes. thing glides over paper; great for fast writers like me. also the unlimited choices for ink is a plus, which allows you to experiment with pretty much any shade of any color of any viscosity - if you cant find THE perfect ink for you in the world of fountain pens then theres something wrong with you

i do use ballpoint for lab work though
