in general we have an overpopulation of people going to college. go into a STEM field you enjoy and do well in it. you need to be the best at what you are doing, not be looking for the most relevant degree.

The same is true of engineers.
However the dollaz associated with the position will be concentrated up in the elite.

Get into the Solar world; in the realm of system design there is good work for there. I say this because you have almost zero intelligentsia in upper/mid level positions in the solar world right now, as a lotta dudes were more or less imported from other careers to fill seats due the youth of the market. If you specialized in solar system design and had the structural engineering bg to back it up you'd be in solid contention for a upper level position in a nascent market; in the energy sector no less.

The outlook? As there is more complex technology, there will need to be more complex maintainers/designers/operators.

There will be a point where being an aerospace maintainer will require an EE or MechE degree. Hell the level required for my Avionics AMEL was the same as 3rd year for my EE degree as far as circuit analysis and design was concerned.
