Not really, there are a few firms that manufacture satellites here. Moreover you don't need to be part of Europe to be a member of the ESA, you just have to agree to help fund it. And even then, being part of the ESA is hardly a great argument for staying in the EU.

What I'm getting hyped for is SpaceX's return to flight, with their third try at stage recovery, possibly on solid land this time (AF has given permission, still no final decision from FAA), and an upgraded rocket (more payload at the same empty mass thanks to increased thrust and propellant densification) that will make landing attempts feasible on all flights, not just low-payload ones.

Well I study in the UK (and live there) and the majority aren't. They want a way to easily facilitate co-operation between different universities but that's it, they couldn't give a fuck about the EU as such, just the machinery that allows them to apply for more funding and the facilities that gives them away to work together easily.

There's nothing about spaceflight that makes it inherently unreliable, and as I pointed out, now we have half a century of experience with it.
Failures don't happen for mysterious reasons, but because of completely avoidable engineering, manufacturing, and operational fuck-ups.
You might as well sneer at the idea that intercontinental, stratospheric flight could ever be routine. That's not easy either, but we got good at it.
