Can someone recommend me textbooks for a good intro to topology and modern algebra?
All I've taken is linear algebra and set theory

Cool, how about algebra?

working through these books in this order will make you preddy fuggin based at algebra. as good as a good grad student anyways.
D+F is a good book to have, it's very useful as an encyclopedia and place to look up basic results. Working straight through it can be tiresome though. Artin is less comprehensive as a starting point but much more pleasurable to read.
by the way OP if you just did linear algebra you should definitely just jump straight into combinatorics and roll with that until you need abstract algebra to understand what you're reading.
get Van Lint and Wilson and go to town, right now.

I'm taking modern algebra next quarter, but I suppose I can use my break to study combinatorics instead
I'm basically going to consume my quarter by drinking lots of coffee and prestudying topology and modern algebra, which I'm taking next quarter

>Topics in Algebra by Herstein
So I saw these on the MAA BL*** list, but I instead checked out Abstract Algebra by Herstein. Oops?
I also checked out Topology by Munkres
Thanks everyone so far for the suggestions

I fully recommend this, but I am a combinatorialist.

Pretty much this but replace Hatcher with Rotman.

>reminded that he includes the word "manywhere" in Algebra.
Fraleigh is pretty enjoyable and has a solution manual.

This is our text next quarter

Read Pinter then.

No, those books are undergrad level. Something like Lang is graduate level.
