Is antimatter really the only way to generate anti-gravity? And besides, that would be nonsensical, wouldn't it mess up gravity on the ship's interior? Star Wars has "hypermatter" anyway which is this exotic sci-fi stuff which can probably do way more impressive stuff than antimatter can anyway

Most good sci-fi settings address this issue. In Star Wars and Star Trek both, you can't do FTL too close to a gravity well, so you have to just use it to get to the edge of a system and then approach at sub-light speed. And it often takes time to do the calculations to FTL so you can't just use it for a quick escape from combat.

Relativity permits the creation of anti-gravity devices. Gravitoelectromagnetism states that gravity can behave in analogous ways to electromagnetic fields. So instead of time varying electrical currents flowing through a coil creating an electrical dipole, we can do the same with time varying mass currents.
However, in order for these effects to be significant you either need a lot of mass or ultradense matter.
