He and his family have waged a deliberate and organized campaign of fraud to paint him as this genuine, talented electronics hobbyist who built a clock, took it to school to get feedback from a teacher with knowledge of electronics, and then had another teacher mistake it for a bomb and have him unfairly arrested.
