Browsed it for many years (since about 2008 or so), but any time I post, all I get is "lol so random", "edgy", "entry-level faggot", "kill yourself", "your waifu is shit", "your tastes are shit", etc, etc. I just tried to bear it, but it never grew on me. Not just because it happens to me, but I also dislike seeing other people's posts get gang attacked like that by the self-moderating Nazi hivemind. They even told me I don't belong there, and why should I disagree?

I also browsed /prog/ for a couple years before it was deleted, but the only reason I "fit in" in there was because of the memes and jokes, but it was similar to the way I post on [s4s]: I'm just pretending and being ironic, but no one ever called me out on it.
Sites other than 4chan? They are all about trying to gain a reputation and be respected. I was never into that game, not because I dislike it, but because I have no motivation to stay sane for that long.
The worst part is I feel like this in real life too. Everything has a niche and it is never *my* niche. I also recognize that all of this may be caused by my attitude, but I have no way to change that attitude because it is so deeply integrated into my psychology that I am dependent on it.

The next real literary “rebels” in this country might well emerge as some weird bunch of anti-rebels, born oglers who dare somehow to back away from ironic watching, who have the childish gall actually to endorse and instantiate single-entendre principles. You know how you just said there's no way to change your attitude? You're wrong. You're only dependent on your attitude because you want to convince yourself that your problems are beyond your control. You are a better person than you realize. You're protective of others to an admirable degree, you have a great sense of humor, and you're a free spirit. There's so much evidence that suggests you're far from hopeless!
Every day you should think about how changing your attitude will improve your life. Look towards others for inspiration. Think about people who are happy with their lives, who can stay sane, and can be social. Tell yourself "I can be happy and successful, and I can fit in. All I have to do is change my attitude, and I will be a better person. I promise myself I will do THIS instead of that".
Another great thing to have is someone who supports you. 4chan is, to put it bluntly, not a very good place to find people like that. Talk to people, real people, and don't push them away. If at least one person believes in your ability to change you can do anything! Don't hang out with people who will laugh at you and tear you down.
