Now most people think Waluigi is just ``Wa'' placed in front of Luigi because he's Wario's buddy. But they're wrong. Waluigi is an even more intricate pun, Warui + Luigi = Waluigi.
Warui means bad or inferior, unwell etc. It's not just `evil' Mario, it's knock-off Mario, poor man's Mario, sick Mario etc. He's Mario but not. He's like if your dad got back from a trip to Japan and bought you one of those ``Super Bros'' games you love so much, and instead of there being a red-capped moustached plumber there was a fat, pink nosed Jew on an obvious bootleg.
