A Simple Man (ONE)
>I'm a simple man:
>I wake up, get out of bed, take a shower
>singing an old song
>while the searing water splashes off the back of my neck
>I turn the knob
>the water stops running
>I dry off, and shave the short tendrils of hair off my cheeks
>I knick myself a little on the last swipe
>I got too excited, I thought
>I went into the laundry room and put on the clothes I set the night before
>I go into the kitchen, getting out the eggs and frying pan
>I make scrambled eggs
>My wife gives me some toast and kisses me gently on the cheek
>My son's near the opposite end of the table
>You alright, I ask
>Just tired, he says
>Weird noises again, I reciprocate
>He knods
>I put my dishes into the dishwasher and head to the bathroom
>I make the final preparations before work
>brushing my teeth
>combing my hair
>I say goodbye to my wife and son from the floor below
>I get my briefcase
>my jacket
>my keys
>get into my car, turning the ignition
>open the electric garage door
>and leave
...
>Twelve-thirty in the morning
>I roll my car up the driveway
>opening the garage and parking within it
>I leave the car without turning it off
>I circle around to the trunk and open it
>where within lies the project I've been working on
>it squirms as I wrap my arms around the gray garbage bag
>I use my right hand to take the keys out of the car
>and my left arm to hold it
>I walk to the back of my house
>unlocking the wooden entryway leading into the sub-basement
>I heave it back up into my arms, and walk downstairs
>closing the wooden doorway behind me
>I turn the light-switch
>revealing the rectangular pedestal
>and my "little shop of horrors"
>I tear open the gray bag with a razor-blade
>it looks at me, but cannot scream
>I gagged it with the plastic ball I give to the dog
>it's body well-bound for no escape
>I pick it up, and place it on the pedestal
>I cut the bounds on her body, being careful to put each limb in the metal braces
>or else it fights back
>>3961007
who are you quoting?
A Simple Man (TWO)
>Finally, I remove the ball from it's mouth
>it screams a high-pitched scream, saying things like
>help me
>help me
>please help me
>but it never begins to realize
>I'm all the help it ever needs
>I tell it that screaming's pointless
>the walls are well sound-proofed
>it stares back at me, tears rolling down it's eyes
>I smile
>this is what I'm meant to do, I tell myself
>I grab my scalpel from the drawer
>and walk over to it
>illusions are our downfall, I tell it,
>and pain is one of them
>I make the first incision at the base of it's navel
>it looks on helplessly, screaming as it should
>My scalpel finally reaches the base of it's neck
>and it's skin unfolds like that of a bird's
>I look at the organs undulating within the body cavity
>I am suddenly overwhelmed with temptation
>the perfect specimen before me
>the juices settling at it's back
>and I realize I can't help myself
>I eagerly get the sharpest butcher-knife I have
>hanging from the cork-wall
>cut off a part of it's lung
>and bite into it as would some ravenous beast
>it's screaming turns to gurgling
>blood drips down it's cheek
>I wipe it away with my finger
>and lick off the residue
>I keep chopping and chopping
>putting the goods into ice packs in the fridge
>beside last week's and the weeks before that
>the screams aren't as bad now
>and while I'm tearing out one of it's arteries
>the screaming stops
>I stop cutting
>the world stops moving
>and god's greatest creation fills the room
>as it did all those times before
>Silence
>Pure
>unadulterated
>and absolute
>silence
>It's an eternity until I look at my hands
>this flesh covered in blood
>the hands of a man, I tell myself
>A simple man.

It's a green-text story. That phrase doesn't work here.
>>3961012
whom are you quoting?
>>3961016
Again, that phrase doesn't work for green-text stories. It only works if it's not related to a fictional story or anything that anyone actually said.
>>3961019
but who were you quoting?
>>3961034
Myself. Since I wrote the story. So, technically, it works.
>>3961040
why would you quote yourself ?_?
>>3961040
But if you originally said it then you are the source of the quotation and there's no reason for you to use quotes
>>3961043
You can quote yourself, but you would have had to have said it sometime before in a different context for the quote to work.
>>3961051
so if OP posted this thread without the meme arrows then they could legitimately make this thread also because there would be a source for all of the quotations
>>3961058
Pretty much.
