somehow my response got deleted, i like the androgynous nature of it as well but I think it's just more stylish overall. Styles better with most clothing, it better accentuates facial aesthetics, and often shows a woman is confident in her appearance and style. I think that is hot.

When I was doing my country's mandatory military service period, I saw a girl there with her head completely shaven as is required for men there (but not for women, she for some reason decided to shave it all off).
She had the prettiest face though! Her hair (or rather the lack of it) didn't make her any less pretty. It's my thought as well that truly pretty women don't need hair or makeup to make them prettier. Good hair is a plus, but if a girl can do without and still be called pretty, that's true beauty. It's this >>16343350 more or less. Short hair frames the face better and makes features that are usually covered up, like the neck or ears more noticeable, and if the girl is good looking, these features will add to the girls already attractive face.
I would also argue it shows a bit more personality seeing as it's rarer than long hair, however depending on the particular style of the hair, it may not be a good personality being expressed.

I don't know that "androgyny" is the right word for the appeal of short-haired women. Androgyny is about the ambiguity of sexuality, but a young woman who wears a single article of men's clothing is interesting and appealing because that article accentuates her femininity. For me, it's the same with short hair. Her neck is visible (which is appealing) and the unusual hairstyle is a kind of expression, which is feminine in and of itself.
