Scared? No.
I have enough shit in my personal life to feel anxious about as it is. I'm not going to let the weight of the world bring me down, too.
And in some ways, it's also kind of exciting. Like, I feel terrible that people are suffering and being killed/maimed as a result of all of these acts of mass violence. But it also feels like the world is on the cusp of some kind of change. It might involve a lot of turmoil and pain for awhile, but after all is said and done, maybe the world will be changed for the better. Or at very least, become more interesting.
And you have to remember OP, good things are happening too. Particularly in science, tech, and medicine.

This is nothing new, OP. There are people who want to impose their world view on the planet. Everybody wants an easy answer to lifes problems, whether it's mindlessly bowing to literal interpretation of scripture, white-washing the nation in some form of hermaphroditic socially traditionalist economic technofetishism, or sticking your head up your ass and pretending there's no point in making value-judgements based on instinct/intuition.
I'm pretty much a broken person at this point and I don't know what to do with myself, let alone society as a whole. So in a lot of ways I've freed myself from excessive worry, I can barely handle living up to my standards on a day to day basis.
